Derwin James injury update: Florida State's star safety has been out since tearing a meniscus against Charleston Southern. He's out for Saturday's pivotal game against Clemson.

There was some hope that James, one of the best players on FSU's athletic defense, would be back in time to face Deshaun Watson and the Tigers, but on Wednesday head coach Jimbo Fisher confirmed that he would miss the game.

James was one of the country's best defensive backs as a freshman in 2015, totaling 91 tackles (9.5 tackles for loss), 4.5 sacks, five pass breakups, two fumbles forced, and two fumble recoveries. A number of publications named him to their Freshmen All-American teams, and he was a CBS Sports All-American honorable mention after his first collegiate season.

After originally going out with the torn meniscus on September 10, the timetable for James' return was set at 5-7 weeks. We hope to see the Seminoles superstar back very soon.
