Arizona Western’s Desmond Bland is the No. 1 JuCo guard in the country. He committed to Scott Frost and Nebraska football back in June.
There hasn’t been a lot happening to challenge that pledge, but a big new offer has shaken things up a bit.
Florida State offensive line coach Greg Frey, who previously worked at Indiana and then Michigan under Jim Harbaugh, among other programs, recruited Bland as a high school prospect.
Frey joined Willie Taggart’s Florida State football staff, and recently extended an offer. Now, Desmond Bland is planning a visit.
“I talked with Coach [Greg] Frey,” Bland told Noles247.com on Wednesday evening.
“It feels good because Coach Frey was recruiting me out of high school, so its good to be back in contact with him and to know he still has interest in me,” Bland added.
It is unclear when he will make his way to Tallahassee. FSU finishes up the season with two home games, hosting Boston College on Saturday and rival Florida to end the season on Nov. 24.
Both Nebraska and FSU have had rough first seasons under their new coaches, but the vibes coming from Nebraska have definitely been better, as the Huskers have hit their stride. Still, Taggart is a big-time recruiter, and Florida State is a huge brand, so this one might get interesting.
