Florida Senator Marco Rubio Found Out About #FSUTwitter After Trashing School's Academics

Florida Senator Marco Rubio is in a bit of hot water this week after joking about Florida State's academics on a radio show in Iowa. He's also learning all about #FSUTwitter in the process.

Earlier in the week, Rubio, who attended both Florida and Miami (FL), joined KXnO Sports Fanatics and jabbed FSU a bit, effectively calling it a safety school for students in the state.

“Look, I don’t have anything against Florida State,” Rubio said. “I think there has to be a school where people who can’t get into Florida can go to college. And so that’s why we have Florida State.”

Well, apparently, Seminoles fans haven't taken the news all that well. Rubio took to Twitter Tuesday morning to tell FSU supporters to "relax", adding that it was just meant to be "trash talk" on sports radio.

Wondering what he's talking about? There are thousands of tweets directed Rubio's way. Here's safe-for-work sampling.

It's never smart to alienate any group of people when running for public office. It's also never smart to mess with Florida State fans.
