Florida State Basketball: What Do The Seminoles Need To Do To Make The NCAA Tournament?

Florida State, despite winning its final two games of the season, is currently on the outside looking in at the NCAA Tournament field. Why? Well, the Seminoles only lost two non-conference games (against Hofstra and Iowa), but they also didn't pick up too many quality wins. A victory over Florida back in December is nice, but it isn't enough to propel them into the conversation.

In ACC play, FSU finished 8-10, but again - there weren't many quality victories. Wins over Virginia and Notre Dame show that the Seminoles can compete with the best, but there wasn't enough consistency. At the moment, FSU is not listed in many analyst's brackets.

CBS Sports:Florida State is not currently listed in the field

USA Today: Florida State is not currently listed in the field

Likely Seed: Florida State is not likely to make the field, given its lack of quality wins. Unless, of course...

Ceiling: ...they can run the table in the ACC Tournament. If FSU could somehow beat Boston College, Virginia Tech, Miami and Virginia, they'd have a real argument. Obviously, if they add a fifth win, they'll get the automatic berth.

Florida State needs a lot to happen to make the field, but crazier things have happened. The Seminoles start things off today at 2:00 PM against BC.
