This Friday, the fourth-seeded Florida State Seminoles will take on No. 13 seed Vermont in the first round of the West Region in Hartford. The winner will take on either No. 5 seed Marquette or 12th-seeded Murray State.
Preview: Florida State is the elite ACC team that nobody is talking about. The Seminoles finished with a 27-7 record that included a 13-5 mark in the league. They also reached the conference tournament championship before falling to Duke. This is the last go-around for senior Terance Mann, so he’s looking to make it count.
Vermont is making its third NCAA Tournament appearance under John Becker, and its seventh all-time. The Catamounts have won 27 games, which is the second-highest total in program history. After storming through the America East, Vermont might be capable of springing an upset this week, led by star forward Anthony Lamb (21.4 ppg, 7.8 rpg).

Prediction: Vermont looks like it has the type of team that could be pesky for a higher seed, and the Catamounts might be able to knock off some teams listed ahead of them.
However, we don't think Florida State is one of them. The Seminoles are loaded with size, length and high-level talent. They've been through the gauntlet in the ACC, and they could be ready to equal last year's run to the Elite Eight.
Florida State marches on.
