Florida State vs. Clemson - Game Time, TV Schedule, Line, Preview, Predictions

This contest got a little - OK, a lot - more interesting Wednesday afternoon, when it was announced that Florida State redshirt sophomore quarterback Jameis Winston is suspended for the first half of the game against Clemson for his vulgar, immature outburst on campus Tuesday.

Clemson, which enters this primetime matchup hoping to get some revenge for what Florida State did in Death Valley last season, will have to prepare for two different quarterbacks. With Winston out and redshirt sophomore Sean Maguire to make the start at quarterback for Dabo Swinney's squad, it seems like the Seminoles could be primed to be upset.

Can Dabo Swinney's squad pull it off?

Date: Saturday, Sept. 20, 2014

Time: 8 p.m. E.T.

TV Channel: ABC

Location: Doak Campbell Stadium, Tallahassee, Fla.

Betting line: Florida State -16.5 via 5Dimes

Prediction: If Winston was eligible to play for the entire contest, this game likely is played in similar fashion to the 2013 version, a 51-14 FSU blowout. But Winston will miss the first two quarters. How will Maguire respond? Clemson's defensive line, led by stout end Vic Beasley, should be able to put a lot of pressure on Florida State's young, inexperienced quarterback.

Does Clemson have the weapons necessary to take advantage of Winston's absence, though? The Tigers struggled on the road against Georgia, and the Seminoles' defense possesses just as much - if not more - talent than the Bulldogs. As long as Florida State can keep the game close during the first half, Winston should be able to lead the Seminoles to a comfortable victory in the second half. We'll take the Seminoles and the points.
