The Everett Golson era at Florida State may very well be over. Jimbo Fisher made the switch to Sean Maguire during FSU's 31-17 win over N.C. State on Saturday, a move that may well be permanent going forward. Fisher told the media that Maguire will start this weekend's game against Chattanooga.

“(Maguire) will start this week,” Fisher said. “Yes he will.”

Maguire was 18-for-28 through the air, for 231 yards and two touchdowns, after replacing Golson, who threw two early interceptions. Fisher says that Maguire's play gave the team a much-needed lift.

“The energy grew. He was being vocal, being a leader,” Fisher said. “And then all of our guys got that bounce and got some urgency and he was the spark. He made a couple really nice plays under pressure. The guys appreciated that.”

After facing the Mocs on Saturday, FSU takes on rival Florida, which is still in contention for a College Football Playoff berth at 9-1, with the SEC East clinched. A 10 win season would be a pretty strong result for a Seminoles team that has dealt with uncertainty at quarterback through much of the season.
