No. 1 Seed Xavier Loses To Florida State 75-70

FSU celebrates upsetting top-seeded Xavier.

The city of Cincinnati just had an absolutely devastating day of basketball.

First, Cincinnati blew a 22-point lead in the second half and lost to Nevada 75-73. The Bearcats became one of two No. 2 seeds to be eliminated today, the other being North Carolina.

Then, top-seeded Xavier blew a double-digit second-half lead of its own in a loss to ninth-seeded Florida State. The Musketeers are the second No. 1 seed to go down this weekend, with Virginia being the other.

Xavier led 66-57 with 5:34 left before Florida State finished the game on an 18-4 run. The Seminoles scored the last seven points of the contest.

The win gives FSU its first Sweet 16 berth in seven years.

Florida State will take on fourth-seeded Gonzaga in the West Region semifinal on Thursday. Tip time is set for approximately 10 p.m. ET on TBS.

The Seminoles will be looking for their first Elite Eight appearance in 25 years.
