Paul Finebaum Says Having Jimbo Fisher As Coach-In-Waiting "Didn't" Work At Florida State

Very rarely in the college sports world does a "head coach-in-waiting" situation work out for all parties involved. It seems to have at Florida State, though.

Jimbo Fisher was named the Seminoles' head coach-in-waiting in 2007. He worked under Bobby Bowden for three seasons before the legendary coach retired after the 2009 campaign. Fisher took over as FSU's head coach before the 2010 season. He won a national title his fourth season (2013) and has things rolling in Tallahassee, Fla.

Paul Finebaum discussed this on his radio show this afternoon. He disagrees with the idea that the head coach-in-waiting thing can work, even at Florida State.

We'd like to hear Finebaum expound on his point, but nearly everyone is going to disagree with him here.
