Report: Florida State Starting RB Dalvin Cook Is Under Investigation For Battery

Update: The details of the alleged incident are ugly. From ESPN's Mark Schlabach

"I told him I had a boyfriend and wasn't interested," said the woman, who spoke to ESPN.com on the condition she not be identified. The woman said the argument became heated, and then Cook punched her in the face several times. Her friend ran to a nearby Tallahassee police car, which wasn't occupied, so the woman called 911.

"They kept telling me they were football players," the woman said. "They kept telling me to Google them. They told me they were football players and they could buy me in two years."

Earlier: Florida State sophomore running back Dalvin Cook is currently under investigation for battery, according to a report by the Tallahassee Democrat.

Per the report, Cook is under investigation for the battery of a 21-year-old woman outside a Tallahassee, Fla., bar on June 23. No charges have been filed yet.

Cook, a 6-foot, 203-pound back, rushed for 1,008 yards and eight touchdowns as a freshman last season.

From the report:

In a heavily redacted police report obtained by the Tallahassee Democrat, the victim was listed as intoxicated and suffered minor abrasion/bruises from the incident, which occurred outside of Clyde’s & Costellos on South Adams Street.

The victim’s name and personal information were listed in the report, but the report does not have a suspect listed. The victim was able to identify the suspect to police.

Names of two other witnesses — a male and female — were listed in the report, but redacted. The victim plans to press charges, according to the report, and could not be reached for comment by the Tallahassee Democrat.

Florida State dismissed freshman quarterback De'Andre Johnson on Monday after a video surfaced showing the four-star prospect punching a woman at a Tallahassee bar. That incident occurred just one day after the incident with Cook allegedly occurred.
