The new Sam Ponder commercial for energy drink XYIENCE is making the rounds today. You can watch it below.
ESPN's College GameDay is set to return on Saturday morning, which means that you'll be seeing a lot more of college football analyst/sideline reporter Sam Ponder on your television screen. But it won't just be during ESPN's live broadcast that you'll be seeing the Worldwide Leader star. Nope, you'll also be seeing the new Sam Ponder commercial for energy drink XYIENCE. Actually, there are six of them.
Ponder has been the company's spokeswoman for over a year now. This past offseason, she shot six commercials with the company. The theme? "Pond Pondering with Sam Ponder." The premise? Sam has time to think about other things - like what socks really are - instead of dwelling over "bad taste" and "calories." The commercials were shot in the woods.
Ponder's last name is her married name - she tied the knot with San Francisco 49ers quarterback Christian Ponder back in 2012. Her maiden name is Steele, if you're wondering.
Here's a look at the six spots that will air this season. There's no word on whether the company plans to produce or release more.
Ponder got her start with ESPN back in 2011 - when she worked for the Longhorn Network. She eventually transitioned over to College GameDay, replacing Erin Andrews, who left for FOX Sports.
Ponder will also take on a new role in 2016. It was announced back in May that she'll take over for Heather Cox as the sideline reporter for ABC's big Saturday night game each week. That means that both she and Kirk Herbstreit will now need to travel from College GameDay's site to the location of the Saturday night contest during the day on Saturday.
