Why I Woke Up With No Voice And A Smile On My Face

"Even when the 'Noles were down two touchdowns, we were unwavering in our support and confidence."

As I walked around the electric atmosphere of Tallahassee yesterday, I was immersed in a sea of garnet and gold. The tomahawk war chant could be heard all day as smiling faces filled the roads and lawns.

On Friday night, the festivities kicked off with a jam-packed 'Downtown Get Down', where an encouraging spirit was undeniable and would continue all the way to the celebrations after the 49-37 victory.

I jumped from tailgate to tailgate, all of which shared an intense excitement for the primetime showdown. Everywhere I went we were a family of Seminoles. Alumni, students (current and future) and parents represented Florida State tremendously with passion and good spirits all weekend.

The anticipation grew to an amount I didn't think was possible as we made an appearance at Indian Village, the game day journey's last stop before entering Doak Campbell Stadium.

Ten rows behind the end zone, I chanted and jumped, clapped and screamed. I have never heard the Doak so loud. Each tackle, incompletion and fourth down was accompanied by an amped up defense and roaring crowd. People were high fiving after gaining any sort of yardage and a tomahawk chant filled the air every few minutes.

Even when the 'Noles were down two touchdowns, we were unwavering in our support and confidence. If anything, we grew louder, demonstrating our faith that we would still come out on top.

E.J. Manuel and the boys took the momentum we gave them and ran with it, literally. The Florida State senior ran for over 100 yards while throwing for a career-high 380 yards and two touchdowns.

The Seminoles surely proved to the country that they should be taken seriously as they showed signs of returning to the national powerhouse they were in the late 90's.

But before we get too ahead of ourselves, let's enjoy the victory and be proud of our boys for showing up on Saturday night.
