Pastner has been at Memphis for seven years, posting a 167-73 record. He took the Tigers to the NCAA Tournament four times, but never made it out of the second round. This past year, Memphis finished 19-15, including an 8-10 mark in the AAC.

Many, including Parrish, believe that Pastner's exit from Memphis will benefit both sides.

Pastner will replace former Georgia Tech coach Brian Gregory, who was let go in late March after five years with the program. As ESPN's Jeff Goodman notes, he'll have a tough rebuilding job on his hands.
