BREAKING: ACC Votes To Add Louisville

The Cardinals get the look.

Update: ESPN's Brett McMurphy has just confirmed that the ACC has voted to officially extend an offer to Louisville. The Cardinals will become the 15th member of the conference.

Earlier: It remains to be seen if Louisville will become a member of the ACC. The league began voting on expansion on a 7 a.m. conference call this morning, and the Cardinals need 75% of the vote to receive an invite into the league.

It was first reported by late last night that the ACC presidents and chancellors would be voting early this morning. Overnight, other news outlets (ESPN) chimed in to confirm the situation, even suggesting that Louisville's invite is imminent. The move could leave the other four contending schools - UConn, Cincinnati, Navy, and South Florida - in limbo. All had been making pushes for inclusion.

Yesterday, the Big East added Tulane in all sports, and East Carolina in football. As the conference continues to expand to different parts of the nation, many of its members are left wondering what they need to do to secure futures for their athletics programs.
