Chris Mack was all over the recruiting trail after reportedly taking the Louisville job (despite Louisville's strange statement to the contrary). One of his targets is five-star shooting guard Romeo Langford.

Langford was considering to the Cardinals until the FBI released its report about corruption in college basketball last fall. That report cost Rick Pitino his job.

He had plenty of contact with the school, and had the Cards in the top seven he dropped in August. However, once Louisville was caught up in the scandal, he removed the team from consideration.

Mack called Langford's coach and father today. From the Courier-Journal:

Tim Langford's cell phone buzzed with a text message Tuesday afternoon from a person of interest.

It was Chris Mack.

The new coach at Louisville reached out about Tim's son Romeo, the 2018 five-star shooting guard from New Albany, Indiana who has not yet made a decision about where he'll play college ball.

"He introduced himself and said if I had a chance to give him a call," Tim Langford said. "I'll discuss that with Romeo. I'm not going to make that decision. I can't sit here and say yea or nay."

It doesn't sound like Chris Mack has a great chance of getting back involved with Romeo Langford however.

USA Today's Brendan C. Hall spoke with the five-star after the news. He says his top three remains set at Indiana, Kansas, and Vanderbilt.

Even without Langford, Mack is shooting high with this early recruiting. Earlier, five-star forward Keion Brooks Jr., four-star forward Kahlil Whitney, and four-star guard Armaan Franklin all revealed offers. Since then, a number of other players have also received new offers. Five-star point guard Ashton Hagans:

Expect plenty more, as Mack looks to make up for serious lost time. Louisville is currently without a commit in the 2018 or 2019 class.
