Louisville didn't finish its 2016 campaign on a high note, but the Cardinals will still be headed to a decent bowl game. Let's take a look at where the team could be playing this December.
The Louisville Cardinals, who were once a College Football Playoff favorite, stumbled down the stretch, dropping games to Houston and Kentucky in the final month of the season. Louisville finished with a 7-1 mark in the ACC and a 9-3 record overall. The Cardinals posted wins over Charlotte, Syracuse, Florida State, Marshall, Duke, NC State, Virginia, Boston College and Wake Forest. The team dropped contests to Clemson, Houston and Kentucky.
Louisville finished tied for first in the ACC Atlantic, but lost the tie-breaker to Clemson via head-to-head.
According to Jerry Palm of CBS Sports, Louisville is projected to play in the Citrus Bowl against Florida. If that were the case, the Cardinals would head to Orlando, Florida on December 31.
Nothing is set in stone, and we'll know more Sunday. But the Cardinals should still take on a good SEC team this December.
