Louisville's Blackout Game Will Be Oct. 14 Against Duke

The Louisville Cardinals will don their black uniforms against the Duke Blue Devils in this year's blackout game on October 14.

Calling all Louisville Cardinals fans, wear black to the game against Duke on October 14. This is the message being sent across Louisville's social media pages, urging fans to plan for this year's blackout game. Accompanying the message was a video showcasing last year's game against Clemson.

Last year's blackout game didn't work out so well for the Cardinals. In a primetime Thursday night matchup Louisville grabbed a three-point lead early in the third quarter, but ended up trailing by seven headed into the fourth. The Cardinals were driving late in the game, but quarterback Kyle Bollin's pass was intercepted in the final seconds to end the game.

Louisville's blackout game tradition dates back to November 2, 2006 when the No. 5 Cardinals hosted No. 3 West Virginia in a matchup of undefeated teams. Louisville escaped with a 44-34 victory to remain undefeated.

The Cardinals will be looking for that type of result when they take on the Duke Blue Devils on October 14.
