Today's matchup between No. 1 Louisville and No. 6 Syracuse was college basketball in January at its best. The top two zone defenses in the country faced off, forcing both teams to get more creative with their offensive opportunities. In the end, Louisville just could not finish on the last two possessions.
Syracuse played well, especially considering the Orange was missing James Southerland. And goodness gracious, Brandon Triche may be the most underrated player in the country. When the teams meet again in March, controlling him will be the concentration. The kid is the Russ Smith of New York, which is all kinds of weird to say, considering Russ Smith is from New York.
Positives For Louisville:
1. Siva and Dieng scored very little. Despite that, it was still a very close game. Louisville has serious, serious depth.
2. Jim Boeheim called Louisville "The best team; there's no doubt about that."
See you on March 2nd, Orange.
