Here's the latest on the former Cardinals' pledge.
Anfernee Simons, a five-star combo guard out of IMG Academy in Florida, became one of the most-pursued recruits in the 2018 class when he de-committed from Louisville.
Almost immediately, Florida and Vanderbilt were labeled as the top two contenders for the elite recruit, though things appear to be more open than that.
Simons spoke to Scout.com's Evan Daniels about the latest on his recruitment.
He met with three schools over the weekend.
“It’s tough,” Simons told Scout.
“I’m just going to take my time and hear everybody out,” he added. “It’s different than before I committed. I moved up in the rankings and stuff like that. A lot more schools are here than before. I’m just going to take my time.”
Simons, who now attends Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy, didn’t waste any time moving forward with his process. Over the weekend be met with Florida, Florida State and South Carolina for in-home visits.
Per Daniels, Simons has also heard from these schools:
Villanova, Maryland, NC State, Memphis (offer), Virginia, Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech (offer), Texas A&M (offer), UCONN, Vanderbilt, West Virginia, Cincinnati, LSU (offer), Tennessee, Marquette, Wichita State, Georgetown, SMU, Michigan, Illinois and Dayton (offer).
Florida is still looked at as the favorite by most experts, though there appears to be a decent way to go with this one.
