Sugar Bowl Recap: Louisville Blasts Florida, SEC Fans Left Stunned

[sad chomp]

Score: No. 21 Louisville 33, No. 3 Florida 23

Star(s):Louisville:Teddy Bridgewater 20/32, 266 Yds, 2 TDs, 1 INT. Florida:Quinton Dunbar 5 Rec, 77 Yds.

Story: Florida was a two touchdown favorite, yet it was Louisville that controlled the game from start to finish - literally. On the game's first play from scrimmage, Florida quarterback Jeff Driskel was intercepted by Louisville's Terell Floyd, who then returned the pick for a touchdown.

Things got worse for the Gators on Louisville's next possession, as the Cardinals stormed down the first to score another touchdown on a 1-yard run by Jeremy Wright, taking a 14-0 lead. By halftime, the score was 24-10, with Florida's lone touchdown coming off of a trick fake field goal play.

In the second half, Louisville again outplayed the Gators. Florida tried an onside kick to start the third quarter, didn't recover it, and watched the Cardinals take the ball down the field for another touchdown, this time on a 19-yard pass from Bridgewater to Damian Copeland. While Florida was able to score two touchdowns late to make the score respectable, it was an overall dominating performance by Louisville.

Teddy Bridgewater had his coming-out party, and SEC-lovers were upset. Many were in disbelief that a team from the Big East defeated Florida and its No. 1 ranked defense.
