The young 2019-20 college basketball season has already featured plenty of chaos. Former No. 1 teams Duke, Michigan State and Kentucky have each suffered a loss while holding the top ranking in the nation.
That’s opened the door for Louisville to earn the prestigious top spot in the latest edition of the AP Top 25 poll. But another major upset is brewing in college basketball – and the Cardinals find themselves the victim.
The unranked Texas Tech Red Raiders currently hold a 31-28 halftime lead over Louisville in the Jimmy V Classic. The Red Raiders, coming off a Final Four run in last year’s NCAA Tournament, are using a high-energy defensive game-plan to frustrate the Cardinals’ offense.
No. 1 Louisville got a reality check that half in terms of effort. Texas Tech defense is still nasty.

Louisville relies on its lethal three point attack, but shot just 2-of-9 from the perimeter in the first half. Despite the poor shooting effort, the Cardinals are down just three points.
The Cardinals have to try and match Texas Tech’s effort all over the court if they want to avoid an upset. They also must keep feeding Louisville center Steven Enoch, who had his way in the paint in the first half (10 points, 5 rebounds).
Will the Cardinals find a offensive groove and mount a comeback? Or will Texas Tech pull off the major upset?
