According to former Georgia coordinator and current Colorado State head coach Mike Bobo, the Mark Richt Miami fans get will more resemble the coach from the early days of his tenure in Athens. Bobo joined SiriusXM College Sports Nation this week, and believes his former boss is "refreshed and recharged" by the change of scenery. From CoachingSearch.com, which transcribed parts of the interview:
“I was so excited he decided to stay in coaching and land in Miami," Bobo said. "He seems very excited, every time I talk to him. He seems like a new guy. Almost refreshed and recharged. I’m excited to see what he’s going to do.”
After an 8-4 first season at Georgia, Richt went 44-9 from 2002-2005, winning both of his conference titles in that stretch. Expecting similar results is probably unfair, but Miami fans should be encouraged by Bobo's statement.
