Dec. 28 is a big day for Miami (FL) running back Duke Johnson. Not only is it the day after his Hurricanes take on South Carolina in the Duck Commander Independence Bowl, but it’s also his mother’s birthday.
According to Johnson, Dec. 28 will hold extra importance this year, because Miami’s all-time leader in rushing yards will announce whether he will return to Coral Gables for his senior year, or if he’ll declare for the NFL Draft.
Johnson was spectacular for the Hurricanes this year, as he ran for 1,520 yards and 10 touchdowns. He also caught 33 balls for 370 yards and three touchdowns. ESPN’s Mel Kiper ranks him as the sixth-best running back in the 2015 NFL Draft, and the No. 65 player overall.
Miami and South Carolina will square off in the Independence Bowl on Dec. 27 in Shreveport, La. The game is scheduled to kick off at 3:30 P.M. EST on ABC.
