Miami Freshman QB Brad Kaaya Listed Ahead Of Senior Jake Heaps On Depth Chart, Golden: "I'm Not Very Good On The Alphabet"

Miami's quarterback race seems to be down to two competitors for the week one start, and interestingly, promising freshman Brad Kaaya is listed at the top of the depth chart for The U ahead of Kansas transfer Jake Heaps. Or is he?

">@GoldenAl talking now: "It’s by no means just a two-man [QB] race but those are 1 & 2 right now. That’s probably the best way to say it."

The listing does read "Brad Kaaya OR Jake Heaps," and most coaches will tell people not to stress out about a depth chart until games start, but it is interesting that Kaaya is listed on top, even if it is a tie at this point. Could this be a simple error, as Golden says, or perhaps a motivational technique, or is the Hurricanes coach tipping his hand?

For what it's worth, Golden had good things to say about the freshman:

">@GoldenAl on Kaaya: "We're grateful. He's running the huddle, his reads are really good. He's got a lot of poise right now.''

We'll find out if it is Kaaya's job to lose, or if this was merely an oversight at some point between now and the season opener, when Miami travels to Louisville on September 1.
