It's been a while since Miami football has been great. The Hurricanes have not won 10 games or more in a season since 2003, when Larry Coker led the school to an 11-2 record and a win in the Orange Bowl. However, in the last decade, Miami has not had the success of the old 'Canes teams that made the school one of the premier football schools in the country. Sure, there have been a few nine win seasons, but there hasn't been a single conference title or appearance in a BCS bowl.
Entering 2014, the expectations are high in Coral Gables. The team isn't expected to win the conference, but Al Golden and co. are expected to win the ACC Costal, and maybe this will finally be the year that the 'Canes win at least 10 games. There's certainly more than enough talent -- led by two-time second-team All-ACC running back Duke Johnson on offense and first-team All-ACC linebacker Denzel Perryman on defense -- and if Miami can put it together, maybe "The U" can take a step back in the right direction.
