Guthridge's health had been declining in recent years. In a report by The News & Observer, Guthridge's wife Leesie detailed her husband's struggles with both amyloids of the heart and vascular dementia. The cause of death has not yet been released.
Guthridge finished with an 80-28 head coaching record, and won two national titles as Smith's assistant. Smith passed away just this past February.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Guthridge's family and friends.
