Miami Shows Off In Front Of LeBron And D-Wade, Crushes UNC

Tar Heels in terrible form down in Florida.

Score: No. 8 Miami 87, North Carolina 61

Stars:North Carolina:Reggie Bullock 14 Pts, 7 Reb. Miami:Shane Larkin 18 Pts, 9 Ast.

Story: Miami took care of business at home against the Tar Heels, remaining undefeated in the ACC (10-0) and possibility earning themselves the best AP ranking in school history at the end of the week. Carolina falls to 6-4 in the ACC and snaps its three-game winning streak. The Hurricanes shot lights out the entire game, with much of their offense coming from Shane Larkin, Kenny Kadji, and Durand Scott who combined to account for 52 of the teams 87 points and a ton of three pointers (11-16 from deep). UNC’s leading scoring James Michael McAdoo struggled all night against a big, tough Miami frontcourt and had his worst game of the season (6 points on 3-12 shooting, 3 rebounds, 0 free throw attempts).

Miami came out firing early and proved to UNC that it was deserving of its No. 8 ranking. The Hurricanes started on a 22-9 run and never let up, draining 10-16 threes in the first half en route to a 44-27 lead at the break. Whatever Roy Williams said at halftime must not have been very motivating, as the Heels let Miami start the second half on a 15-6 run and never looked like they were going to give the Hurricanes any trouble. Miami finished the game shooting 54.4% from the field and 57.7% from downtown while UNC shot a dismal 38.5% from the field and 30% from three.

Why did Miami play so well? Maybe because Miami Heat stars LeBron James and Dwyane Wade were in the house and the Hurricanes wanted to show off a little bit.
