Michael Jordan, Former UNC Stars Not Happy With Referees In National Title Game

The finish to the national championship game we just saw was one of the best in sports history. Villanova topped North Carolina on a buzzer-beating 3-pointer after the Tar Heels tied the game on a double-clutched, miraculous 3 by Marcus Paige.

It was an insane finish

The crazy ending makes us forget what many people were complaining about for much of the contest, though: the referees. There were 36 fouls called in the game - 20 on UNC, 16 on Villanova. Twitter was full of complaints - many coming from former UNC stars - throughout the contest.

Michael Jordan was even seen visibly upset at a number of the calls that went against North Carolina late in the contest.

I feel bad for both teams. This is one of the worst officiating championship games I have ever seen. @ESPN@Sportscenter

The referees certainly didn't have their best night. The Wildcats might have benefited from that a tad more than the Tar Heels, but Villanova made the plays it needed to down the stretch to win.

It was still a pretty awesome game.
