North Carolina football has rebounded from a rough season opening loss to South Carolina to blow out North Carolina A&T and Illinois at home in weeks two and three. Unfortunately for the Tar Heel players, not many fans are showing up to see the improvement. UNC announced an attendance of 44,000 for the home opener against A&T, and fell to 41,000 against Illinois, a Big Ten opponent. Kenan Memorial Stadium holds 63,000.
Wide receiver Bug Howard is not happy with the poor turnout, and chided Heels fans for not showing up, snarkily suggesting that the program hold a basketball scrimmage at half time to draw fans.

Football attendance is down around the country, not just at North Carolina, but the fan base is definitely more basketball-focused. North Carolina football has also failed to live up to expectations over the last few years.
North Carolina hosts Delaware at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
