Report: North Carolina's Larry Fedora Considered A "Strong Candidate" For Virginia Tech Job

Frank Beamer is one of many big name college football coaches to be on the way out this year, and according to a report by FootballScoop, Virginia Tech athletic director Whit Babcock could be looking in a very different direction. On Monday, the site reported that Babcock is interested in North Carolina head coach Larry Fedora:

Virginia Tech: Sources tell FootballScoop that Whit Babcock considers Larry Fedora a strong candidate at Virginia Tech. We are also of the understanding that Rich Rodriguez will not be a candidate for this position.

Fedora is 30-18 through four seasons at UNC, with a 19-11 record in conference. For whatever it's worth, he is 1-2 against Virginia Tech, and faces the Hokies this Saturday. Fedora's an offensive minded coach, which would certainly be a change from Beamer's defense-first program of recent years.
