After spending three seasons with North Carolina, Seventh Woods has announced that he'll transfer. The former top prospect from South Carolina made that decision official on social media.
This week has been crucial for the future of North Carolina, as they received a commitment from one of the best recruits in the country. Five-star guard Cole Anthony revealed that he'll play for the Tar Heels on ESPN.
However, the focus now shifts over to the loss of Woods. He finished his junior campaign averaging 2.5 points and 2.1 assists per contest.
Woods' senior season in Chapel Hill won't come into fruition, but he is very optimistic for what the future holds in store.
"My three years here at UNC has been nothing short of amazing. Two regular season championships, a National Championship and group of brothers that I would cherish for life. I wouldn’t go back and change any decision I’ve made but I do feel like it’s time for a change, with that being said I plan on finishing my academic and basketball career elsewhere," Woods said.
Here is Woods' entire heartfelt message to North Carolina:
Woods was part of the team that won the national title in 2017.
He should garner interest from other programs seeking experience in the backcourt.
