North Carolina didn't finish the season on a high note after losing to NC State, but the Tar Heels are still headed to a bowl game this December.
North Carolina finished the 2016 season with a 5-3 mark in the ACC and an 8-4 record overall. The Tar Heels posted wins over Illinois, James Madison, Pittsburgh, Florida State, Miami, Virginia, Georgia Tech and The Citadel. UNC lost games to Georgia, Virginia Tech, Duke and NC State.
UNC finished tied for second place in the ACC Coastal with Miami and Pittsburgh. Virginia Tech won the division with a 6-2 mark.
According to CBS Sports' Jerry Palm, the Tar Heels are projected to the TaxSlayer Bowl against SEC East squad Tennessee. If that turned out to be true, UNC would head to Jacksonville, Florida on December 31.
Nothing is set in stone, and we'll know more on Sunday.
