Story: The Heels took care of business in their second-to-last home game of the regular season, improving to 11-5 in the ACC. Florida State struggled to get anything going against a much improved Carolina defense, and fall to 7-9 in conference play. UNC relied heavily on its three-headed scoring monster of James Michael McAdoo, Reggie Bullock, and P.J. Hairston as they combined for 57 of Carolina’s 79 points. Florida State Senior Michael Snaer had scored 20 or more in three of his previous four games coming into the matchup against the Heels, but couldn’t get his shot going and finished with 17 points on 5-18 shooting.
UNC came out firing in this one, shooting 58.1% in the first half including 6-11 from behind the arc. The Carolina defense was also clicking, holding the Seminoles to 34.4% shooting before the break. McAdoo, Bullock, and Hairston combined 36 of UNC’s 46 first half points en route to a 46-27 lead. The second half was no different as the Heels kept applying the pressure and hitting important threes when they needed them. Carolina finished the game shooting 55.4% (9-15 from 3) while keeping Florida State at 37.1% (4-18 from 3).
