Story: A win is a win and it doesn't matter how you get it. The Heels went into Clemson, South Carolina and pulled off an important victory, improving to 10-5 in the ACC. Clemson continues its rough season, falling to 5-10 in conference play. Senior Dexter Strickland had a rare high-scoring game, matching his season high with 16 points. Devin Booker had a strong showing in the second half, finishing with an impressive 25 points and 11 rebounds.
Carolina had a solid first half offensively and defensively, shooting 46.9% (6-15 from 3) and holding Clemson to only 34.5% shooting. The Tigers are 0-10 this season when trailing at halftime, so UNC leading 38-24 at the half didn't bode well for Clemson's chances in the second half. However, Clemson tried to make things interesting, out-rebounding the Heels by a significant margin and getting its stud Devin Booker going after being shut down in the first half. Despite and ugly second half, UNC managed to hold off the Tigers, making this Roy Williams' ninth straight season with at least 20 wins with the Tar Heels.
