Story: UNC kept Roy Williams' undefeated record in the Round of 64 intact with a hard fought win against a tough Villanova team. Carolina goes on to face second overall seed Kansas, Roy Williams' former team, on Sunday in what will basically be a home game for Kansas (game in Kansas City).

The Tar Heels started off red hot, leading by as many as 20 in the early stages. P.J. Hairston and James Michael McAdoo each had 10 points in the opening half, but Villanova started playing better and cut the deficit to 37-29 by the half. The second half was pretty even, but a few clutch threes for UNC proved to be too much for the Wildcats. The Tar Heels rode the 3-point shot again this game, going 11-of-21 from deep compared to Villanova's abysmal 4-of-21.

After the game, the players surprised Coach Williams with a jersey with his name and the number 700, in honor of his 700th career win (418 with Kansas, 282 with UNC).
