What Seed Did Pittsburgh Get In The 2014 NCAA Tournament?

Seed: For the upcoming 2014 NCAA Tournament, the Pittsburgh Panthers were given a 9-seed in the South-region. They are coached by Jamie Dixon and hail from the ACC.

You can view the entire 2014 NCAA Tournament field here in our official bracket.

Where: They will open play against Colorado in Orlando on Thursday.

Why: Pitt finished with an 11-7 record in the ACC, good enough for fifth place during the regular season. The Panthers scored notable victories over NC State, Clemson (twice) and North Carolina. The victory over the Tar Heels in the ACC Tournament likely secured their NCAA bid.

Ceiling: While Lamar Patterson is the offensive star for the Panthers, teams will have a harder time dealing with big man Talib Zanna. Pitt wasn't the cream of the crop in the ACC this year, but the Panthers are still a dangerous team that could pose matchup problems for smaller squads across the country. Probably not a Final Four hopeful, but could upset a few teams that are.
