Wisconsin vs. Pittsburgh – Game Time, TV Channel, Announcers, Betting Line, Predictions

Over the last few years, Wisconsin has had some serious NCAA Tournament success, with back-to-back trips to the Final Four. Things will be tougher this year, as the Badgers are a seven-seed in this year's tournament, but the team has rallied around new head coach Greg Gard, who took over at mid-season and is playing well after looking like it would miss the tournament at mid-season. The Badgers' opponent—10-seed Pitt—does not have nearly the same tournament success. Despite having some fantastic teams during his tenure, Jamie Dixon has not made it out of the first weekend of the NCAA Tournament since 2008-09, and has only reached the Sweet 16 in three of his 13 years as Pitt head coach. The winner of this game will play the winner of Xavier vs. Weber State.

Date: Friday, March 18

Time: 6:50 p.m. E.T.

TV Channel: TNT

Location: St. Louis, Missouri

Announcers: Anderson/Smith//Jacobson

Opening Betting Line: TBD

Prediction: There is no guaranteed way to be successful in filling out an NCAA Tournament bracket, but one of the enduring rules of March Madness is to pick against Pitt. With the Panthers running into Wisconsin, that is easier than usual this season. The two teams mirror each other in terms of style and ability. Both are efficient offensively, and play at a slow, deliberate pace. This Pitt team is not as good defensively as previous years, and Wisconsin is a Top 25 defense, according to Ken Pomeroy's metrics. The Badgers also have players like Nigel Hayes and Bronson Koenig with some solid tournament experience. Wisconsin will pick up the win here.
