NFL teams are always searching for their next franchise quarterback, and perhaps Duke star Daniel Jones will be the next in line.
With the 2019 class looking rather weak at quarterback, Jones will have an opportunity to be a first-round pick. Besides, his intangibles and experience should bode well in the NFL.
Scouts everywhere were surprised by Justin Herbert's decision to return to Oregon, as the Ducks quarterback was considered the top prospect at his position.
One prospect that will battle Jones for draft supremacy is Dwayne Haskins, who was electric for Ohio State in his first year as the starter. While he hasn't declared just yet, the expectation is that he'll leave the Buckeyes after breaking almost every single-season record within his conference.
Although Haskins isn't ready to make his final decision yet, Jones has informed his coaching staff that he'll enter the NFL Draft, per Stephen Wiseman.
He'll have the chance to boost his stock at the NFL Scouting Combine and during his pro day.
Jones finished this season with 2,674 passing yards, 22 touchdowns and nine interceptions.
His last game for the Blue Devils was impressive, as he threw for 423 yards and five touchdowns. Several teams will be in the market for a new quarterback this offseason, and Jones could be the perfect fit.
