The headline game of last week wound up being Ohio State football’s trip to Purdue. Like in their trip to Iowa last week, the Buckeyes were shellacked by a feisty Big Ten West foe.
Last season’s 55-24 loss wound up severely hurting Ohio State’s College Football Playoff chances. The team already had a more excusable loss on its resume at the time, against eventual Big 12 Champion Oklahoma.
This year’s Buckeyes squad just suffered its first loss, but now with Michigan looking very strong, and Notre Dame riding an undefeated record, the CFP will be a tough pull once again. Ohio State has a bye week off before it gets its chance to get back in the win column.
There are plenty of other big games on the slate, though. We have a Top 10 battle in Jacksonville between Florida and Georgia, a very interesting Big Ten battle between No. 18 Iowa and No. 17 Penn State in Happy Valley, and yet another Top 25 Pac-12 duel, this time between Wazzu, coming off of a giant win against Oregon, and Stanford.
It should be yet another very fun week of college football.
After eight weeks, here are the staff pick standings:
The top five in the race is extremely tight, as it has been all season long. It isn’t too late for anyone to get hot and pull out a season-long victory.
Here are our picks for the upcoming week. We choose every game involving a Power Five/Top 25 team.
