Duke Fans Settle With Syracuse-Area Radio Station After Ejection From Carrier Dome

One of the stranger stories to emerge from the February 1 classic between Syracuse and Duke at the Carrier Dome is that of Shane Hackett and Leslie Gilman, two Duke fans who were thrown out of the game late in the second half by a reportedly-overzealous usher.

The two were livid after Syracuse had offered to refund their parking and $95 per ticket. The couple claims that they paid a mark-up price of $500 for each seat at the game, and they were planning to take legal action against the school.

Today, Syracuse basketball's flagship radio station stepped in and saved everyone from any legal recourse. Hackett joined the "Gomez, Dave, and Lisa" morning show on TK99, during which the station offered him $500 if he and his fiancee agreed not to sue the school, and agreed to not attend any more games at the Dome.

As for the usher who caused this mess, Syracuse has said that they've taken disciplinary actions after hearing about the issue.

It's good to see that this situation, which had been getting a lot of press in Upstate New York, has been settled. It is a little strange that it took a local radio station to do it, but if everyone's happy that is all that matters.
