The Syracuse basketball program received mixed news earlier today, when the NCAA ruled on its appeal of the heavy penalties originally levied in March. SU will get one scholarship back ever year, after originally losing three every year through 2018-19, but 101 of the program's wins will not be restored. Former Orange star Eric Devendorf, who played at SU from 2005-2009, is not pleased with the NCAA's ruling.

The scholarships are the most impactful part of the penalty against Syracuse, so today's decision definitely frees up SU on the recruiting end a bit. While Jim Boeheim and SU would probably like the 101 wins, which would put him second all-time behind Mike Krzyzewski, in reality it is a fairly toothless penalty.
