The 11th-seeded Arizona State Sun Devils take on the No. 11 seed Syracuse Orange in a play-in game in the Midwest Region. The game will be held at University of Dayton Arena. Tip-off is set for 9:10 p.m.
Preview: The Sun Devils (20-11) were a top-five team after a 12-0 start. However, they finished out the season on an 8-10 slide before losing to Colorado in the first round of the Pac-12 Tournament. Coached by Bobby Hurley, the Sun Devils are a guard-oriented bunch led by Tra Holder, Shannon Evans and Kodi Justice.
Syracuse (20-13) looked like they were NIT-bound, but the committee felt differently. The Orange lack depth (only seven scholarship players) but they bring their patented 2-3 zone and a guard who can fill it up in Tyus Battle.

This is Arizona State's first appearance in the NCAA Tournament since 2014 and their 15th overall. The last time they won a game in the Big Dance? It was 2009, when they won their first-round game and were bounded in Round Two by....Syracuse.
The Orange are back in the NCAA Tournament after a year hiatus. This is their 39th trip all-time. They have made the Final Four six times, last in 2016. Their lone national title came in 2003.
Prediction: This is a weird matchup. Arizona State has scuffled for the last two-plus months of the season. Syracuse was never particularly great at any point this season, but registered enough quality wins.
It is going to be a tight game. We're taking Arizona State to do just enough against the 'Cuse zone to advance to the Round of 64.
