Earlier: Syracuse head coach Scott Shafer has been dismissed from his position, according to Sports Illustrated's Thayer Evans. Shafer will, however, coach the team's final game - against Boston College this Saturday. Shafer lasted just three seasons leading the Orange.

Since taking over for Doug Marrone back in 2013, Shafer has posted just a 13-23 record, with a 6-17 mark in the ACC. In his first year with the program, the Orange finished 7-6 with a Texas Bowl victory over Minnesota. Since, he's failed to win more than three games in a season.

There's no word on who Syracuse will target in the offseason.
