It wasn't the story's headline, but the LA Times published a piece this morning with a brief mention that Mike Hopkins, Syracuse Assistant Coach and next in line to be Head Coach after Jim Boeheim, interviewed for the vacant head coaching job at USC.
A person with knowledge of the situation said at least one other interview has been conducted, with Syracuse assistant Mike Hopkins, who played at Mater Dei.
Hopkins is from the west coast and would probably be thrilled to move back to the place he grew up. He's been around Syracuse since the late 80's. He joined the coaching staff in 1995 after playing here and has been Boeheim's right hand man ever since.
This begs the question, how much longer will Coach Boeheim be around? And how much longer is Mike Hopkins willing to wait?
