Syracuse Basketball: 5-Star Guard Tyus Battle Commits To The Orange

Two months ago, five-star guard Tyus Battle announced his commitment to the Michigan Wolverines on Twitter. After a decommitmentand a trip to Central New York, Battle is trading his maize and blue for Syracuse Orange. The 6-foot-7 guard, who will likely play point guard for Jim Boeheim's team, made the announcement on Twitter shortly after ESPN'sJeff Goodman and Jeff Borzello broke the story.

The ESPN piece has more on why Battle switched his commitment.

"I wanted to be closer to home," Battle said of his decision to pick Syracuse. "They told me I could be a versatile guard who could have the ball in my hands a lot."

247Sports' composite rankings have Battle at No. 24 overall in the 2016 class, and No. 1 in the state of New Jersey. He joins four-star forward Matthew Moyer in Syracuse's 2016 recruiting class.
