A former four-star recruit is transferring out of the ACC.

Syracuse redshirt freshman Matthew Moyer announced his decision to transfer this afternoon. Moyer averaged 3.2 points and 3.4 rebounds per game for the Orange this season.

He redshirted in 2016-17 after arriving on campus as a four-star recruit out of Columbus (OH) Gahanna Lincoln.

"The past 2 years at Syracuse University has been an amazing journey," Moyer tweeted."Thank you to the coaching staff for the opportunity and my teammates! Also the fans have been incredible. My family and I feel it is in my best interest to move on and explore other opportunities."

Moyer was just one of seven scholarship players left for Syracuse at the end of the year. He shook off a foot injury and appeared in all but two games for the Orange this season.

Moyer reached double-figures four times. His top scoring output was an 18-point performance in a 72-63 win over UConn on Dec. 5.

In his final game with the Orange, Moyer scored two points and grabbed three rebounds in Friday's Sweet Sixteen loss to Duke.

We'd assume Moyer will have a pretty robust transfer market. His departure hurts Syracuse's depth for next year, though the Orange should still have more players to use than they did this year.
