Syracuse football, with a new offensive coordinator calling plays and two freshmen quarterbacks splitting time, lost to Florida State at home 38-20 this afternoon, but there is a silver lining. A number of young players made big impacts for the Orange, including quarterback A.J. Long who threw two touchdowns in his first appearance. The young passer clearly has confidence in his program.

It is a bold prediction coming from Long, as Syracuse will always be in an uphill battle with Florida State and Clemson in its division. Today's game was certainly in a move in the right direction though, at least compared to last season's 59-3 loss in Tallahassee.
