Syracuse Guard Trevor Cooney Is Campaigning To Be The School's New Athletic Director

This week, Syracuse unexpectedly lost its athletic director after less than a year. Mark Coyle, who took over at SU last June, took the job at Minnesota, leaving everyone—football and basketball head coaches Dino Babers and Jim Boeheim included—totally blindsided. Fear not, Syracuse fans, someone who has spent half a decade at the school is ready to step into the role: former basketball star Trevor Cooney.

Cooney, who wrapped up his SU basketball career with a second trip to the Final Four last month, has one high-profile supporter: former teammate and 2014 NBA Rookie of the Year Michael Carter-Williams.

In reality, Cooney will probably head overseas to play pro ball now that his five-year Orange career is over, but maybe some day we'll see him return to SU. Considering the basketball coaching staff is comprised entirely of Syracuse alumni, it isn't too far-fetched to think that he may have a role at his alma mater somewhere down the line.
