Syracuse To Honor Pearl Washington With Custom Shoes This Saturday

The Syracuse basketball team will wear custom sneakers this Saturday against Georgetown to honor former player Pearl Washington.

This Saturday, the Syracuse basketball team will don special sneakers in honor of former Syracuse star Pearl Washington's incredible legacy, complete with Washington's name and jersey number inscribed in the shoe.

Check them out:

Dwayne "Pearl" Washington was a three-time All-American for Syracuse from 1983-1986, and was instrumental in bringing Syracuse and the Big East into the national spotlight. Washington was known for his flashy play and his offensive prowess, especially when driving to the rim. He finished his career with 1,490 points, and ranks No. 4 all-time in school history with 637 assists. Unfortunately, back in April, the former Syracuse star passed away after a long battle with cancer. He was just 52.

There will be several scheduled tributes to Washington at the game according to Syracuse.com.

You can catch the game this Saturday at noon E.T. on ESPN.
