Story: Months ago, it was pegged as one of the toughest games of the season on the road in Kentucky. That was before Louisville was ranked No. 1 and before James Southerland had been ruled ineligible. But the Orange pulled through. It was a back-and-forth game. Both teams had leads of eight or nine at some point in the game but for the most part, the game remained within a few points.

Late in the game, the Orange found itself down one when Michael Carter-Williams grabbed one of his four steals of the game and took it to the hoop. With 13 seconds left, he was fouled and put to the line. He only made one of his shots to go up by two, giving the Cardinals a chance to tie or win. A huge defensive effort inside in the final few seconds against Gorgui Dieng, one of the best big men in the country, won the game.
